Writing as Therapy

What to Expect From the Course

I have loved writing since I was a child, but like many of us discover in adulthood; we get caught up in adult stuff. Before we know it we are no longer in touch with those childhood passions that lit us up. So at 25 I 'went back to school' and studied for a degree in creative writing. I graduated just before 30 and at almost 9 months pregnancy with my first baby. Since then I have been using mindfulness and journaling to unravel my fears around approaching publishing and sharing my writing with the big wide world.

On this adventure I've discovered that the catharsis of using writing to delve into the unconscious mind and release habitual behaviours can be used in all sorts of ways to improve our mental health and well-being. We are all born story tellers, it's what binds us as human beings. It's how we get to know one another, as we share the stories of our lives and the stories of others that uplift or sadden us. Sometimes the deep seated stories that we hold about the world around us and ourselves can in fact be the very thing that keeps us living in a repeated pattern of behaviour; whether that be relationships, happiness, or career.

So with a combination of my tutoring qualification (gained to launch my yoga school), my writing degree and my ongoing studies of yoga and mindfulness, I have created a 4 week course that uses tried and tested methods of personal growth writing practices from journaling to short story writing alongside some short meditations to offer something that can be used by anyone wishing to find new, in expensive ways to empower themselves to heal and grow. I am so excited to share this new area of my work with you. The first course starts November 2021. Please get in touch to book your place.
